Interior architecture

Jen Alkema
Amsterdam-based architect Jen Alkema completed his studies at the Academy of Architecture in 1994 and reached the finals of the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1995. He was later selected for the interior design award phase of the New Rijksmuseum alongside architects including David Chipperfield and Michele de Lucchi. His approach is minimalist not as a style, but as a way of thinking: mass, light, material and detail pursued to their essence.
Natural stone
Moleanos, sweetened limestone
All bathrooms, the kitchen, bijkeuken and toilet are finished in sweetened Moleanos, a Portuguese limestone valued for its calm, warm tone and refined grain. Sweetening removes the surface tension of the stone, creating a silky finish that is both durable and tactile.
Flooring
French oak, knot-free
The floors are laid in French oak, selected without knots for a calm, continuous grain. The planks run the full length of each room and disappear beneath the floating walls. Underfloor heating runs beneath the entire surface, controllable remotely.
Kitchen
Mario Kortooms
Bespoke kitchen with natural stone island, steam oven, wine climate cabinet, extra-wide induction hob and integrated television.
Fireplace
Boley
The Boley fireplace anchors the sitting room.
